Resources for 1st-Time Home Buyers
If you live in Chittenden, Franklin, or Grand Isle counties, the Champlain Housing Trust provides homebuyer education and individual counseling to help you make your home ownership dream a reality. These services are available to anyone, regardless of your income. If you live in other parts of Vermont go to the NeighborWorks Alliance of Vermont to find a HomeOwnership Center near you.
These classes are a great resource for anyone looking to get into home-ownership. When Jessica Bridge and I first became Realtors, we took these classes with the Champlain Housing Trust. They are experts at putting together all of the pieces of the real estate puzzle and will help you think about your needs and your budget. Also, they have speakers come to the class such as Realtors, mortgage brokers, attorneys and home inspectors.
As a customer of the Champlain Housing Trust HomeOwnershipCenter you will:
- Attend a free orientation session
- Complete an 8-hour Home Buyer Education workshop
- Work with a HomeOwnership Counselor to rebuild your credit and find referrals for other services
- Be eligible to receive post-purchase counseling
I couldn’t recommend these courses enough!
