When should a buyer use a Realtor?

The following is an excerpt of an email I wrote to a buyer who was confused as to whether to work with a Realtor or go at it on their own.  The main confusion was regarding commission.  This is what I sent:

Diversity in Vermont?

Vermont isn’t often considered a hotbed of diversity.  According to the most recent census data, the white population is at 96.2% versus 79.6 in the rest of the country.

The Burlington Free Press recently ran an article about the changing ethnic mix that is occurring in Burlington (mostly in the Old North End) and Winooski.  As a Burlington resident for the last 15 or so years, it has really been exciting to witness this transformation.  Read the full article here…

Frozen Pipes

Although the sun is shining today and the days are getting longer, you can probably count on more cold weather this winter in Vermont.

A couple of weeks ago, another Realtor was showing one of my Burlington listings and called to tell me that he was inside the house (which is vacant) and that the heat was turned off.  He also mentioned that there were icicles hanging off of the faucets. (more…)
